Forest Ridge is a “No Solicitation” Neighborhood

How many of you have come home from work to find coupons for pizza, housecleaning services, painting, driveway sealing, etc. hanging on your front door or on your mailbox?
I am sure it gives you the same creepy feeling that I get when I realize that someone has trespassed on my property. Since Forest Ridge is a “No Solicitation” neighborhood with posted signs, it is within your right to contact the company and let them know that you will report them to the police if they continue to solicit in Forest Ridge.
I have stopped many a solicitor in their tracks in Forest Ridge, even those who I have seen driving through Forest Ridge, to let them know that they are trespassing. Most of them are not aware, since they are hired by the company who is passing out the coupons. However, I often wonder how many of them are legitimate and if their real business is to find out who is home and who is not.
With the downturn in the economy, I am certain that we will see more companies utilizing solicitors to drum up business. Since soliciting is not allowed in our neighborhood, Forest Ridge does provide a vehicle in which the businesses can advertise, it is called the Forest Ridge Register, a quarterly newspaper supported by residents and local businesses.
It’s up to you and me to keep our neighborhood free from unwanted “visitors”. I will even contact the businesses myself, if you let me know who has been at your door uninvited. Just respond to this blog and I’ll do the work for you.
